My Grandpa IS Superman!!!!!

Today we finally did it, the Timpanogas Cave Hike. My Grandpa and I have been talking about this hike for 3yrs and of for some reason we both have never gone through with it. Today we did. This week the weatherman kept saying it would be thundershowers, rain and miserable BUT it was the most perfect day for our hike. We took all of the essentials water, snacks, jackets,video camera, camera, cell phones, etc. When we got to the start of the trail and put on the backpack, we found it to be WAY to heavy and decided to downgrade to only the basics water, snacks and camera. At about the 1/4 way I found that I had forgotten the memory card to the camera so we could only take 8 pictures total!!! I hope I chose well. Grandpa, Spencer and I were the only 3 to make it to the top. Mike didn't feel great at the beginning and started about 10 minutes after us. Ryan decided at the 1/2 mark his legs were waaaaayyyyy to tired to continue and went on to lay down on the trail every 20 steps until I had Zach take him down to Mike. When Zach and Ryan got to Mike they convinced Ryan to try again to make it to the top. They allowed Ryan to stop whenever he got tired which meant they only made it 3/4 of the way (due to every 15 steps of stopping to rest for Ryan). Mike and Zach were such a good sports. Both Grandpa and I were very tired towards the last part of the hike up but grandpa said his ego would not allow him to not finish. I was a little worried though, I didn't want those 8 pictures to be my Grandpas last 8 pictures period. He is VERY determined and fast I might add so we continued to the top. It took about 1hr to reach the top, they say it is 1.5miles to the top but that sign is about 1/4mile from the start of the trail so I believe that makes it about 4 miles round trip. It was amazing to see my grandpa, 81yrs old, passing people in their 20's and 30's. He is the greatest grandpa and I feel so fortunate to have him. Love you Grandpa!!
